Golden Spotted Monarch Butterfly Resin Doorknob – Handmade, One of a Kind

This one-of-a-kind doorknob features a real golden spotted monarch butterfly, carefully preserved in crystal-clear resin. The specimen was ethically sourced online and transformed into a functional art object, giving it a second life as part of a lasting sculptural piece.

The sphere was created through an intensive process of six separate resin pours to achieve depth, clarity, and a flawless glass-like finish. Once cured, it was hand-sanded and sealed with a protective tabletop-grade resin top coat for added durability and brilliance. The base was carefully leveled, refined, and permanently secured to antique brass hardware using a final resin pour for a seamless bond.

This piece is especially meaningful to me—it reflects my love for natural symmetry, organic patterning, and high-contrast form. It’s one of my personal favorites, and while it’s bittersweet to release, I’m excited for it to be appreciated in a space that values both its visual impact and the meticulous process behind its creation.

If you look closely at the underside, you may notice a subtle imperfection where the hardware was attached. During finishing, a small amount was over-sanded, but it has been sealed and smoothed with a clear top coat and blends into the overall finish.
