Evergreen Needle Vase
This one-of-a-kind ceramic vase is created using real pine, fir, and spruce needles, carefully wedged directly into the clay body. Each piece carries the imprint of the forest—organic textures preserved through subtle cavities left behind as the natural materials burn away in the kiln.
Because of the unpredictability of working with raw organic matter, this piece was given an extended drying period to ensure structural integrity before firing. It was then bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired. The deep green glaze settles into the natural impressions, highlighting the intricate, almost fossil-like surface left behind by the needles. No two areas are the same—every angle reveals something new.
This piece is both raw and refined—a balance between control and nature’s hand in the process.
